Feature update for Process Automation & Data Analytics for Tax Tech
Designed deterministic automation systems for Amazon PANDA, a cloud-hosted low-code / no-code platform enabling finance teams to automate large-scale data workflows with governance and auditability.
As a Product Designer embedded within the PANDA product team, I led the feature update of the user access and permission model, simplifying onboarding, clarifying roles, and improving collaboration across finance teams. This effort established a strong automation foundation—reducing operational friction while enabling safe, reusable workflows at enterprise scale.

My Deliverables
- I owned the User Access & Permissions experience, collaborating closely with product, engineering, and operations teams.
-
My responsibilities included:
Designing role-based access models aligned to finance org structures
Translating regulatory and compliance constraints into clear interaction patterns
Modernizing legacy workflows using the AWS Polaris design system
Delivering UX and content improvements aligned with enterprise accessibility standards

Problem & Context
The Core Problem As PANDA adoption increased, a critical challenge emerged: User Access Became the Bottleneck Onboarding new users required manual intervention Roles and permissions were unclear and inconsistent Collaboration across teams raised audit and compliance risks Finance teams remained dependent on tech teams—undermining PANDA’s self-serve promise Without solving access and governance, PANDA could not safely scale across Amazon.
Finance and tax teams at Amazon manage highly repeatable, regulation-driven workflows—data ingestion, validation, reconciliation, analysis, and reporting—largely dependent on spreadsheets and bespoke tools. These legacy approaches created systemic challenges: Heavy dependence on engineers for updates and regulatory changes Poor scalability when processing hundreds of millions of transactions Fragmented point solutions with no end-to-end automation Limited governance, traceability, and audit confidence PANDA was created to move teams from spreadsheet-driven work to governed, reusable automation, but early user access flows were inconsistent, opaque, and slowed adoption.
My Focus
My Focus I led design improvements for User Access & Permission Management in PANDA, with three primary goals: Enable self-service onboarding for finance users Strengthen governance and auditability without adding friction Support collaboration at enterprise scale across regions and teams This work sat at the intersection of UX, security, compliance, and platform scalability.
